You shall not pass.

Every hobby has its own lexicon and video games are no different.  Each group of gamers has their own slang terms to describe their shared experiences.  Here at Bomb Guts, we’re going to expand your gaming vocabulary, so you no longer sound like Charlie Korsmo in Can’t Hardly Wait.  Hit the jump to educate yourself.

Vampire...EXPLOSION

In this feature, I’ll take a look at several chiptunes from an artist that I think YOU should be listening to.  In my first foray into the feature, I’ll be taking a look at the magical musical stylings of HPizzle.

Left4Dead2 Halloween Posters!

For the occasion of Halloween, I recreated most of the signs from the demo onto 8.5″ x 11″ paper so you can print and hang them around for a cool type of decoration! I’d love to see a house that was set up like a failed quarantine area in the game. I think it’d be the coolest thing ever. With a little fake blood on some stuff, a bunch of signs, a floodlight, and a few sawhorses, I think you could pull off something awesome.

Foreword: I’m writing this article at the behest of Kevin. I almost didn’t do it because it’s sort of topical/news-ish, but enough time has past that nobody gives a shit/remembers. However, it’s pictures with dirty words over them, and that’s what the internet seems to really want out of me, so here we go!

Original Final Fantasy VII Character Concepts

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Final Fantasy VII may have some of the most iconic character designs of the entire role playing genre. Their larger than life personas were groundbreaking for the time, ushering in a newfound appreciation for anime style character design among Western youth.

People claim that these characters were the work of masterful artists skilled in anime character design. I, on the other hand, think a daydreaming seven year old with a twenty-four pack of Crayolas could have done just as great of a job.

Here’s how I think the design drafting at Square would have gone if they had hired a grade schooler over their professional design staff:

I was recently fortunate enough to stumble upon a fully boxed NES Action Set in my attic. The packaging was in pretty good condition and as I looked it over, the promotional image on the back seemed to draw me in. Was it the cold, unblinking eyes of a group of actors pretending to play Super Mario Bros? Was it their wax-like faces twisted in to wild grins of faux-excitement? Or was it the fact that they had no fucking clue what they were doing?

What the fuck is The Secret of Mana?

secretofmana-797238

I would never know unless I picked up the Super Nintendo Game Pak box, flipped it over, took a gander at the tiny screenshots and read “GOOD AND EVIL BATTLE FOR A YOUNG WARRIOR’S HEART.” I’d then know I’m dealing with some kind of J-RPG about falling off of a log and finding a sword.
